one year old!!

Brooke turned one today! I can't believe it. All day I've been thinking "this time last year I was in labor!" It is amazing how quickly this year has gone by. Our little baby is quickly turning into a toddler. She has taken a few steps on her own, but prefers to walk pushing a laundry basket. She has said "water", "shoe", "tree" (for the Christmas tree), and various other words that are not recognizable to us. Of course, she can also say dada and (sometimes) mama. She can climb up the stairs all by herself, and is becoming quite opinionated, especially at mealtime.

We are so thankful for our little redhead. She is such a blessing to us every day, and we can't wait to see what this next year has in store as we continue to watch her change and grow.

Brooke's "cake" was a bunch of cupcakes.

My mom got a special mini-cake for Brooke at the store, and we were excited to see her dig into it. We got quite the surprise when she was not at all interested in eating it! She was WAY too concerned about the icing that wouldn't come off of her hands! She never took a bite. I'm sure this won't last, though, I don't know many kids that don't like sweets!
