eleven months!
Brooke turned 11 months old on Tuesday! It is so hard to believe that she is almost one. If I were to pick one word to describe her right now it would be "busy". She loves to move around and really doesn't sit still and play with toys for any length of time. She is getting so quick at walking around pushing her piano table or walker, and she can stand by herself for a long time. We can't quite get her to take steps toward us, but she will lean forward to reach us. I think she is really ready to walk, and I think it is just a matter of time before she takes her first steps! What a big girl. I am realizing that my baby is more of a toddler now!
Sleep has been an interesting issue for us lately. We think that she is trying to transition to just one nap a day, but that transition is taking some time, and taking a toll on our sleep! The past few weeks she has woken up at 5 or 5:30, then will take a short nap during the day. By 5 or 6 she is a mess! Brooke is also getting at least 4 new teeth right now, so I'm sure that has something to do with her sleeplessness. I can't wait until all of those teeth are IN! Teething is not my favorite stage!
We think that Brooke has officially said her first word! I have a little spray bottle of water on her changing table that I use to tame her bedhead, and when I'm changing her diaper I use it to distract her. Now when I show her the water bottle she says "AAAH-DUH!" (water) It is so cute. She will hold the spray bottle and just say aaah-duh, aaah-duh over and over. She also attempts to say "Jake" or "Jakers" when she sees the dog. I'll try to get it on video soon!
Here are some recent photos:
Brooke loves to play in her room. This usually involves pulling all of the laundry out of the basket, all of the stuffed animals out, and all of the diapers out of the diaper holder. It is a total mess when we're done, but she has fun!

A few weeks ago, we had a joint 80th birthday party for my dad's parents. At the party my other Grandma (who is an amazing musician) took Brooke over to the piano and played with her. Brooke was enthralled by the sounds coming from the piano, and loved to bang on the keys herself! My Grammie is hoping that Brooke will take after her musical talent, though she has QUITE a ways to go.

What beautiful red hair! I sure hope to meet Miss Brooke sometime soon (and catch up with her Mommy).
