twenty!

Today marks the halfway point in my pregnancy, as of today I am 20 weeks pregnant!! I can't believe it has gone so quickly so far. Crazy.

Many people ask if I have noticed a difference between this pregnancy and my pregnancy with Brooke. Here are some of the differences...

Cravings...when I was pregnant with Brooke, I remember craving chocolate milk, pickles, french fries, white rice with parmesan cheese and Jamba Juice smoothies. With this pregnancy I don't have as many cravings as I do aversions. There are times when nothing really sounds good. Although, I have eaten my weight in Cheez-It crackers lately, and I manage to eat quite a bit of ice cream! I think that being on a gluten-free diet during my pregnancy with Brooke was very tough, this time around I am eating a lot of carbs!

Back pain...when I was pregnant with Brooke my back pain/sciatica got pretty bad around the halfway point, but when I was able to go to the prenatal water aerobics class on a regular basis I noticed a huge difference. This time around my sciatica has been MUCH worse. I have had several days where I've been bedridden and not able to walk at all. The hardest thing has been not being able to sleep well as I can't sleep on my back. I have been doing yoga and pilates, but need to get back into water exercise, that seems to help the most.

Medications...I am so thankful that I didn't have to give myself heparin injections during this pregnancy! When I was pregnant with Brooke, I had to give myself injections two times a day, that was no fun. This time, my doctor just has me on low-dose aspirin to help a possible clotting disorder. Much better option.

Weight gain...I think I've gained the same amount of weight this time, though my scale broke so I can only check that when I go to the doctor. I have been feeling huge and was thinking that I probably wasn't this big when I was pregnant with Brooke, but below I posted my 20-week photos with this pregnancy and with Brooke, and they look pretty similar! That is relieving.

We have an ultrasound scheduled for the second week in June, I'm anxious to find out if Brooke will have a sister or a brother, and just to find out if everything is going alright. I'll keep you posted!!

Carrie! Great to see you here in blog-land :) Congrats on #2. Sorry to hear your back has been giving you such pain though :( So, you're taking a photography class? How fun! What kind of dSLR did you get? Great to catch up a bit with you too!
